Packages from Parents
We love receiving packages for all occasions. Whether it be a birthday, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc. My parents are the most thoughtful parents/grandparents ever!
Growing up, I didn't have the opportunity to interact with my grandparents that much. We lived in Texas and both sides of grandparents lived in Mexico. We visited Mexico every other summer but don't recall much interaction. I guess because my mom's mom passed away when I was 7 years old. My mom's dad, non-LDS, would be out of town when we visited. On my dad's side, my grandfather was the only grandparent around until he re-married. He also lived in Mexico and I only saw him, if lucky once a year. My dad's mom abandoned her kids at a young age so I didn't meet her until I was in my teen years. And even then we didn't hang out or have a relationship there. I guess the only one I have a close relationship with, and by relationship I mean I talk to him on the phone once every other month if he's at my parents' house, is my dad's father. He has always been there for important occasions. At my wedding, he was one of the witnesses, and he was the one that gave me the my baby blessing. I see him at Christmas every other year and when I visit Texas and see family, he's around.
That's why I'm very blessed to have my parents around for Malachi and Hannah. And also Jacob's parents. My parents are at a stage where all their kids are grown up and doing their own thing. So they dedicate their time to grandchilren. I'll get calls during the day, on any day, asking questions about what Malachi needs, his favorite toy, do the kids have this, or I'm at the store and I saw this for Malachi/Hannah. They even call and ask for Malachi instead of their own child, me. I love them! They're a great example to me and wish to grow up to be like them!
Jacob's parents still have little ones at home to take care of.
But both grandparents are amazing! I talk to Malachi all the time about how lucky he is to have grandparents around. And I hope he understands that and realizes it!
