But it was nice for Jacob to take some days off from work and just relax. I gave him an allowance of 15 minutes to check his email every day. He's such a hard worker and I know if I didn't set rules he wouldn't have enjoyed the time off.
There are so many pictures and stories so to make the posts short I will post day by day.
WEDNESDAY
We left on Wednesday, August 31st around 2 p.m. and by 4:30 p.m. we were checked in our hotel.
I had found a good deal on a family package that included hotel, a trolley tour, and one night dinner for a good price.
Wednesday night we ate dinner at the hotel and later walked to the National Mall. Now as most of you know, it’s not a mall with stores. It is a park full of green fields and museums all around. We took the stroll just to get an idea of where the museums were that we were interested in.

National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden
Smithsonian Castle (Which we didn't get to go see: It was close due to repairs being worked on because of the earthquake)
U.S. Capitol
Washington Monument (Also closed due to damages done by earthquake)
On our walk, the Smithsonian: Air and Space Museum was open til 7:30 p.m. We got about 30 minutes to walk around and look. Definitely stopped by later that week again.

Afterwards we decided to get a sweet treat and found a gelato place. It was delicious! The best I’ve ever had. I had a white grapefruit scoop and a chocolate hazel nut scoop. I’m not a big chocolate girl but this was sooo good!
