That evening we went to the Union Station. Such a cool place! We had dinner there and shopped around. Jacob and I bought hoodies. Malachi got a t-shirt and we got Hannah a cute bib.

On our way home on Sunday, we decided to stop by the D.C. temple.
Jacob's parents were sealed in that temple. Back then, like 25+ ago, they lived in Ecuador. There were no temples in South America at the time. Most people living in Ecuador traveled to the D.C. temple to be sealed. You can imagine the costly expense that was. My father-in-law tells us that when they got married he had just taken a job. The job provided him with a car to move around. He sold the car and used that money to travel to the U.S. to be sealed with the faith that his boss wouldn't find out and that he would return and make enough sales to buy a similar car and compensate for the other one. And so they did and it all turned out well. Neat story there. I'm sure I'm missing other details but that's the short version. It shows my in-laws faith and the importance to them of being sealed in the temple.
Though the temple grounds were closed, we were able to visit the Visitor's Center. I've always heard that you can see the temple on top of a hill while you drive by, very true! I wasn't able to get a good picture of it but here is some other pictures.

Overall, the vacation was a much needed one. Maybe next time we'll try the beach or NYC!
