Malachi's weekend- birthday celebration!!

I can't believe my Malachi is 4! Where have these last couple of years gone? I still remember the day he was born and became part of our family! But they have to grow, right?

This year he wanted to celebrate his birthday with his friends at the bowling alley but I didn't think that would be such a good idea; having 3-5 year old kids with bowling balls, yeah, not going to happen. So after some insisting and persuasion he-we decided on Build-A-Bear and lunch afterwards at the mall. They have these cute small tables in the food court where Malachi loves to sit down and have lunch sometimes. So we did. We started his weekend celebration on Friday with his friends.

Hannah was a trooper the whole time- as long as she had something to eat!

Enjoying lunch afterwards-look at Hannah in the bottom-right corner, pretending to be one of the big kids!
Sunday, his actual BIRTHday, we decked the house with balloons and streamers! He loved that. So much, that they're still up, a week after his birthday, and won't let us take them down. We had cake and opened his gifts from us!

This kid was showered with gifts from his friends, family, and parents! Thanks everyone! On Monday, we finished his special weekend at the bowling alley. He enjoyed that!

As they get older, the pressure you have as a parent to make your kid feeling extra special on their birthday is intense! I believe my parents did a good job with that and maybe I feel some pressure there trying to live up to their examples. I think Jacob and I did a good job this year with Malachi. He really had a fun weekend celebration that after it was all done he came up to me and said, "Thanks mom! I really enjoyed my birthday!" That kid melted my heart. He is a very tender, caring boy. And that is one of the many reasons I love him SOOOO much!! Happy 4th birthday Malachi!
